Description

How was your start into the world of tattoos?

As a child I had always been interested in tattooing – Ever since I was 4 years old I watched my dad being tattooed in the kitchen by our late family friend – and old-school tattooist Derek Deller. I was adamant on being just like him and was amazed by all of his tattoos and went and got my first tattoo at the young age of 14! I started hanging around the local tattoo flash shop after work and on my weekends getting tattooed watching them until I finally got the opportunity to start helping out in the studio when I was 17 – doing the daily cleaning and looking after the artist’s part time in-between my job as a decorator. I eventually made my own studio in my home and began tattooing my friends and family every second I could; until I got the opportunity to start tattooing back in the local seaside flash tattoo shop.

And how are you reached your point right now?

In 2007 I went travelling in Thailand as I wanted to experience the culture of the tattooing and that’s where I came across a studio in Pattaya called ‘Lords ink’. I got my neck tattooed by the owner of the shop called ‘Master Road’ – Road was one of the most inspiring tattooists I had ever met and we become friends very quickly. He could see how passionate I was and gave me the opportunity to work alongside and learn from him – & for him to become my teacher and part of his tattoo family in Pattaya. I worked with him tattooing all around the world in different tattoo studios and at international tattoo conventions in some amazing places, such as; Canada, India, Germany and Thailand where I won my first ever award. I opened up my own studio in my home-town in England 9 years ago and also called it Lords Ink, as a sister studio to the studio in Pattaya Thailand, since then we have expanded our tattoo family even further and currently have another sister studio in Canada.

Who inspired you to be a tattoo artist?

My very first inspiration was Derek Deller, as the first person to inspire me into the world of tattooing. I have also been greatly inspired by the works of many great artists such as Bob Tyrell, Paul Booth and Shane o Neil. After seeing their work in tattoo magazines and the level of detail in the tattoos they produce, it inspired me to pursue black and grey realism as my speciality also.

Lately there are many tattoo artists who try to develop a unique style to describe their art. What would you say people can expect from you & With which art or style would you identify yourself the most?

I love to tattoo any and all styles but the main style I would say I love to do more than anything is black and grey realism.

Finally tells us, what are the most important qualities to be a good tattoo artist?

Passion, determination & the ambition to evolve and never stop learning.
